Customer Testimonials

Many of our customers ask about installing an A/C unit in their Ambassador
Camper. While there are a number of portable/free standing units on the
market - here is one customer's design for adding it to their camper...
Bob and Peggy Kelley live in Texas so air conditioning isn't an option –
it's a necessity!
They carry a 5000 btu unit and suggest you get one with the air vent on the
front and high so you can aim it at the ceiling and the air will fall down
along the walls away from your face. The unit is mounted over the cooler
rack on a waterproof shelf. Bob's wife, Peggy sewed a zippered flap into the
tent wall to close off the opening when not using the A/C. More detailed
instructions are available if you are interested in making this modification.

"Now the grandkids can go with!"
Melvin & Kathryn Jones picked up their
new Aspen Ambassador from the plant in
their 'ultimate' conversion van (with all
of the bells & whistles) - but not quite
enough bed space and living area for the
grandchildren. Their new Ambassador was
the perfect answer - Grandpa and Grandma
in the van and the kids in the Aspen
(in their own beds)!

"Isn't she lovely!"

I put a little over 3,300 miles on my new Ambassador during
my 'shakedown' cruise to Key West. I pulled it with my Kawasaki
Vulcan 1600 Nomad and ran into all kinds of conditions and hardships –
wind, rain and Atlanta traffic to name a few. The trailer couldn't
have handled better and it drew curious onlookers everywhere I set it up.
(I know you recommend that two people set up the Ambassador,
but I had no problems setting it up by myself, even in windy conditions).
Thanks again for a wonderful product!

Liz & I just returned from our trip - roughly 5,000 miles to Texas (Big Bend), New Mexico, Arizona (Saguaro National Park), Utah (Aches, Canyon Lands & Dead Horse Point), Wyoming and back home through Nebraska, Iowa & Illinois. The camper pulled easily and had plenty of room - just great!

This customer likes to think of his Ambassador as the White House as he proudly includes a Pennsylvania Avenue street sign in his campsite.

We took what we believe was a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip with our Ambassador. We left on August 20th and returned 34 states, 52 days and 11,667 miles later. Just a few of the highways that our trip included went through the Florida Keys, Northern Wisconsin and beautiful Oregon.

We purchased our Aspen Ambassador at the Atlanta Motorcycle Show. Since then it has been through the Blue Ridge Parkway several times and several trips to Cades Cove in the Smokies. This camper has everything that we were looking for (and more!) We added only a few accessories, such as throw rugs, an electric heater and 12 volt interior lighting. This camper is very well constructed and has been trouble-free.

My wife and I left New Jersey and went to a rally in West Virginia. From there we went on to the AMA Crossroads Rally in Lancaster, Ohio where the Ambassador made a big hit with many campers. From there, we traveled through Indiana to Urbana, Illinois for a visit with our daughter then back through several states on the way home— a summer tour of more than 3000 miles. Later in the year, my Ambassador (with guitar inside) and I went to the National 'Wing Ding' Rally where I took the GWRRA trailering course. This camper was a big hit with the instructors who couldn't believe how well that it handled. The electric brakes also impressed them. This camper pulls great and has PLENTY of storage space for those souvenir purchases "while-on-the-road!"

Lou & Jennie Bechtel picked up their Ambassador Camper at the St. Louis Motorcycle Show in January. Trips to date include Americade, Sturgis, Davis Rally and a Missouri Ozark's Float trip.
"We've made a few modifications to our Ambassador including:
- Adding the "Lou & Jennie" nameplate over the door;
- Hunter green doormats make up the inside carpeting;
- A 50' extension cord and 1500 watt heater work great;
- A clamp-on, 110 volt lamp serves as a great porch light;
Lou and Jennie Bechtel
- Three 20" x 30" plastic storage drawers fit in a row on the floor when we break camp, but stack between the beds to make a 3-drawer night stand;
- We bought our Ambassador with electric brakes and installed a 'Draw-Tite' #5100 Activator Brake Controller (about $40). After installing it, I am satisfied that it will fit all touring bikes (Voyager, Gold Wing, Venture, Cavalcade, BMW, etc). The instructions are simple to follow. It measures only 1-1/4" deep x 2-1/2" wide x 5" high. We mounted it upside down on the left/top back wall of the right saddle bag. We set the SYNC Control (time-to-full-aggressive) at approximately 60% and never changed it. By mounting it upside-down, the more frequently used 'Output Control' (Braking Power Controller) is exposed to easy reach for adjustment when load changes are made. After towing it 10,200 miles behind our '96 Voyager, we think it is perfect for us. Our cycle buddies call it the 'Hilton!'"

I had my Ambassador Camper painted a dark silver and "Bordeaux Wine" purple to match my 1999 Venture. Since the actual paint colors were not available, I took the bike to a local body shop and looked through their paint chip books for about 3 hours to get a close match. The colors are from Chrysler! I put down three coats of paint and three coats of clear, leaving the top and fenders the original white. Finally, I painted the frame and undercarriage gloss black and finished with gold pinstriping to match the bike's stripe.

I find that the Ambassador goes up very easily by myself and have done it many times. I enjoy the other folks at the parks and campgrounds watching as I do it; they can't believe such a large camper comes out of that "little box!" My longest trip with the Ambassador has been to Glacier Patk, MT (4000 miles round trip) and have camped frequently at local parks during the 3 years that I've owned it. It is comfortable, convenient, and has plenty of cargo space for wood, food and all camping gear. I hope to enjoy it for many years to come!
